A beehive sponsored by EDC Protection

01.12.2020

The DMD France Group and EDC Protection have decided to sponsor a hive, i.e. about 40,000 bees, through a network of about one hundred beekeepers.

About “Un Toit pour les Abeilles”

Un Toit pour les Abeilles is a broad network of French bee-keepers. For over a decade now EDC Protection has supported individuals and companies with the same convictions.

The purpose of the sponsorship is two-fold:

  • Protect bees and foster the development of colonies on French territory to counter the decrease in the bee population that we are currently experiencing;
  • Support local bee-keepers who work in a sustainable and artisanal manner.

Over the years, the movement has grown, and the numerous sponsorships formed led to 10,000 new hives; this corresponds to over 500 million sponsored bees that actively participate in maintaining biodiversity through their pollination action.

Over the past 10 years, Un Toit Pour Les Abeilles has brought together nearly 60,000 individuals and 2000 companies who have supported or still support French bees and bee-keepers.

Our patronage with DMD France Group

EDC Protection and DMD France have decided to participate in the effort and sponsor a hive, i.e. about 40,000 bees, through the network of about 100 bee-keepers: #un toit pour les abeilles.

This sponsorship meets one of the commitments made by our Group in connection with an SDG (Sustainable Development Goal): Preserve and restore terrestrial ecosystems and halt the loss of biodiversity.

Through this action, we play our part in fostering bees (vital for biodiversity) in France, and we support local, artisanal and sustainable bee-keeping.

This is why we decided to sponsor the hive of the nearest local bee-keeper, located in Sennecey-le-Grand in Saône-et-Loire (Southern Burgundy), between EDC Protection and our Group’s headquarters in Genay (69).

Our commitment to biodiversity

About and beyond economic concerns, we want to find ways of developing in the long term, respectful of people and their environment.

Making our business activities more responsible and investing in sustainable development is also the way to ensure the long-term future of our company.

And, by supporting bee-keepers and their bees, we are improving biodiversity and therefore the environment.

Pollination is improving, agricultural yields are increasing and chemical treatments are decreasing.

In this way, our stakeholders play their part in creating a healthier and more socially friendly environment. We are aware that we cannot succeed without them.
